Maina: EFCC finds £6m pension cash in UK bank

Detectives have traced about £6m pension funds to a  United Kingdom bank  account  being managed by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation(OHCSF),The Nation learnt yesterday.

The cash is being suspected to have been tampered with by some government officials.
Two former Heads of the Civil Service of the Federation(Engr. E. Okeke and Prof. O. A. Afolabi) reportedly did their best to protect the funds from being tampered with.

AVM Martins, driver die as SUV plunges into lagoon

Retired Air Force officer, Air Vice-Marshal (AVM) Olufunsho Martins, and his driver, have died after their Ford Explorer Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) plunged into the Lagoon on Saturday night.

Their bodies were yesterday recovered. The incident occurred about  10:55pm near the University of Lagos (UNILAG) waterfront on the Third Mainland Bridge.

Pirates steal vessel donated to Nigeria by Japan

Findings have revealed that a fishing and research vessel donated by the Japanese Government to the Federal College of Fisheries and Marine Technology (FCF&MT) in Lagos has been stolen by pirates.

This is even as the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) disclosed that it has been able to trace the missing vessel to neighbouring Cameroun.

29 Dead After Islamist Attack On Somali Hotel

An Islamist attack on a hotel in Mogadishu ended yesterday after 29 people were killed during a siege lasting nearly 12 hours, police said, prompting the government to sack two top security officials over their failure to stop repeated attacks.

The attack proved once again that insurgents can carry out deadly assaults in the heart of the Somali capital. Twin bombings in Mogadishu two weeks ago killed more than 350 people, the worst such attacks in the country’s history.

Former Nigeria international   Daniel Daudu  was killed in a crash in Indianapolis in the United States on Friday,  Indianapolis Star confirms.

Reports said the  ex-University of Indianapolis  player died when a large part broke off the rear of a northbound semitractor-trailer and struck  Daudu, who represented Nigeria at the  2007 World U20  Basketball Championships in Serbia.
