Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command have arrested five persons including two native doctors in connection with the death of a man. The deceased, one Thomas Ezeugwu from Nkpologwu town in Uzouwani Local Government Area of Enugu state, slumped and died in mysterious circumstance on October 6.

It was gathered that during mourning,  the suspects confessed that they conspired and went to Omor Town in Anambra state and invoked Juju on the said land on the ground that whoever steps into it will die.

Former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, has expressed her displeasure at the silence of President Buhari on the report of 26 young Nigerian ladies who were reportedly sexually molested and then murdered while trying to cross the Mediterranean sea into Europe recently.

According to the former Minister, the reaction by Abike Dabiri–Erewa, senior special assistant to the president on foreign affairs and diaspora, is not enough compared to when President Buhari himself 
reacts to the report and reaches out to the families of the deceased.

Casket maker gives free caskets to victims of Texas church shooting

A 46 year-old businessman, Trey Ganem, who runs a casket design company in Texas is offering free coffins to victims off the Sutherland Springs church shooting.

His seven employees build personalized coffins that usually sell for about $3,500 but he’s offering to provide free custom-made coffins for the people who died at First Baptist Church and so far, he’s gotten requests to make 15 caskets.

Funmilayo Tejuoso, LASG Fight Over N150m Property

The family of Funmilayo Tejuoso, a former Deputy Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, and the Lagos State Government are at dagger’s drawn over the eviction of the family from its residence in the Ikeja area of the state.

While Funmilayo’s husband, Kayode Tejuoso, accused the state government of victimisation, the state Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Steve Ayorinde, said the house was not acquired by the family.

Federal govt plans to arrest 50 strong PDP members

The Peoples Democratic Party has accused the Federal Government of planning to arrest 50 of its members.

It said the planned arrest was part of “a new strategy to weaken the opposition party” ahead of 2019 elections.

Spokesperson for the party, Dayo Adeyeye, made the allegation in a statement in Abuja on Wednesday.

Ogun assembly majority leader sues police over alleged attack

The majority leader of Ogun State House of Assembly, Yinka Mafe, has said he instructed his lawyer to institute a legal action against the Nigeria Police, Ogun State Command over an alleged attack on Tuesday night.

The lawmaker claimed that no fewer than 50 security officers loaded in eight vehicles bombarded his wife’s hotel, TenthPlanet Suites, and Event Center in Sagamu area of the state.

Buhari orders probe of kids’ death through ‘unknown disease’

President Muhammadu Buhari has directed Minister of Heath Prof. Isaac Adewole to investigate reports of an ‘unknown disease’ that led to the death of about 50 children in Jigawa State.

The President also directed the minister to deploy all the necessary machinery to combat the outbreak of the disease reported in Gidan Dugus village of Wangara district, Dutse Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

FG concludes first phase of Boko Haram prosecution

The Federal Government says it has completed the first phase of prosecution of Boko Haram suspects in its custody, with the next phase to begin soon.

The Solicitor-General of the Federation, Mr Dayo Apata, who stated this in Abuja on Wednesday, said the government was determined to bring all Boko Haram detainees to justice.
