Within 17 days, Black Panther exceeds $500m mark in theatres

This weekend, Marvel Studio’s blockbuster, Black Panther, made another $65m.

The film has now raked in over $500m after just 17 days in theatres, making it the 10th highest-domestic-grossing movie in history.

The film is sure to eclipse the ninth spot on the list, 2017′s Beauty and the Beast, which made $504m domestically.

Saudi Arabia appoints woman to top govt post for the first time

Saudi Arabia has replaced some of its top military officers in a series of personnel changes that elevate a younger generation, bring a woman into a senior government job, and tighten Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s grip on power.

In a reshuffle announced on Monday, the military chief of staff, air defense, and land forces heads and senior defense and interior ministry officials were removed. Tamadur bint Youssef al-Ramah became deputy labour minister, a rare high-level job for a woman in the deeply conservative kingdom.

A clash between youths of Umunze community in Orumba South local government area of Anambra state and some SARS Officers (Special Anti-Robbery squad), left many dead and properties destroyed.

It was gathered that the sad incident occurred on the evening of Saturday March 3rd, when some SARS Officers showed up at a popular relaxation spot known as ‘Guzoro’ and started embarrassing some of the customers who were having drinks. They also pushed to make some arrest but were stopped by the youths of the community.

We Won’t Create Ranches To Enforce Anti-Grazing Laws, 3 State Govs Tell IGP

The governors of  Benue, Ekiti, and Taraba states, which are currently implementing anti-grazing laws in their states, have said the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has no right to direct them on how to make the legislation work.

The IG had, last week, advised state governors to establish cattle ranches before implementing anti-grazing laws to avert conflict between farmers and herdsmen.

Ogun Welder Kills Wife’s Customer Over Disagreement [Pictured]

A welder, Bidemi Akande, has allegedly killed the breadwinner of a family of seven children in the Ogba Ayo area of Ogun State.

Akande reportedly pushed the woman, Shakirat Fatusi, aka Olopa, and she slammed her head on the ground during a disagreement between them.

The 43-year-old woman was said to have gone into a coma and died at a trado-medical centre.

The Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji, has described the third term story credited to him on the Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi, as the misrepresentation of a parable.

Oba Adetunji said he did not use the words third term literally but figuratively, adding that he was surprised many people could not read between the lines.

Ambode backs Gbajabiamila’s re-election bid

Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has signalled that House of Representatives Majority Leader Femi Gbajabiamila will seek re-election in 2019.

The governor gave the indication at the inauguration of a road the lawmaker facilitated at Modele and Mathew area of Surulere Federal Constituency.

Gbajabiamila also installed solar-powered lights on Randle Avenue and Fred Anyiam Street last Friday.

Medical doctor accused of raping and impregnating patient’s 16-year-old daughter in Niger state

A medical doctor at the Federal Medical Center, Bida, Niger State, Dr. Seyi, has been accused of raping a sixten year old girl named Fatima Yusuf and impregnating her while she was attending to her mother who was on admission at the hospital for severe diabetes. Fatima died last Monday during childbirth.

The Nation reports that Fatima had informed her family of the said doctor’s repeated sexual assault. A family source said the rape started when the doctor called Fatima to his office pretending to want to advise her on her mother’s medical condition. He forcefully had sex with her in his office and continued until Fatima’s mother was discharged from the hospital.

The Nigerian Army has issued a stern warning to members of the dreaded Badoo gang in Lagos as well as pipeline vandals operating around the Ikorodu, Ishawo, Arepo and Festac areas of Lagos and Ogun.

The Army issued the warning while referring the criminal elements to the case of the notorious Rivers State cultists Don Waney and his group who were displaced and killed earlier this year.

The governor has endorsed Nwosu, who is his current chief of staff, as his successor.

A man has been summoned to a Magistrate court in Sokoto state, Nigeria for allegedly making several calls to a married woman at midnight.

The man, Bilyaminu Sanusi, 25, a welder in Sabontiti, reportedly committed the offence in January.

The archbishop of Owerri Catholic archdiocese, Valentine Obinna, has compared an alleged assault he suffered on Saturday with “Christ’s humiliation on the cross of Calvary.”

He added that he had left in God’s hand his “assault” by “All Progressives Congress members loyal to the Imo State Government.”

The cleric alleged that some persons suspected to be APC members had assaulted him during a burial service on Saturday.

Man Kills Father For Refusing To Buy Him Motorcycle

A 27-year-old man, Ifeanyi Osita Oguejiofor, from Ezimuko Nsukwu in Abatete, Idemili North Local Government of Anambra State has allegedly killed his father,  Osita, with a with a knife.

He allegedly injured his mother with the same knife.

The Divisional Police Officer in-charge of Ogidi Division, Mr. Mark Ijarafu, who confirmed the incident, told The Nation yesterday that the suspect had been arrested.

Six Killed In Ebonyi Boundary Dispute

The renewed boundary dispute between the people of Enyigba, Abakaliki local government area, Ebonyi state and their neighbouring Alike community, Ikwo local government area of the state has claimed six lives.
