Crew detained in two ships for over five months cry for help

Some Nigerian sailors stranded in two ships, MT United Venture and MT United Trader, have appealed to Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) and the Nigerian Navy to release them from the vessels to enable them reunite with their families and carry on with their lives.

Suspected bandits kill 63 in Zamfara

No fewer than 63 people were reportedly killed in two separate attacks launched by unidentified gunmen believed to be cattle rustlers on Bawar Daji village of Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

It was gathered that the incident occurred on Wednesday when members of the vigilante from the affected village converged to hold a meeting with a view to ensuring a conducive environment for farming in the area.

Dino Melaye: Police confirms re-arrest 5 out of 6 escapee suspects

Few days ago, we reported that there was a jail break in Kogi State, and  6 suspects including two suspected political thugs linked to embattled Senator Dino Melaye escaped.

However the Nigerian Police has confirmed that it re-arrested five out of the six suspected criminals, who escaped from Police custody in Lokoja, Kogi State on Wednesday.  Two of the alleged criminals, Kabiru Saidu, a.k.a Osama (31) and Nuhu Salisu (25 ) aka small, who had escaped were arrested on January 19 at Ogojueje in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State and they confessed to being hired by Mr. Melaye to cause mayhem in the state.

Cattle rustlers arrested while sharing beef in the forest

Cattle rustlers identified as Hammanjulde Yahya, 50; Umaru Yahya, 40; Paul Samuel, 35; Juli Adamu, 30; Ibrahim Yusufa, 27; and Usumanu Buba, 25, were arrested by a military patrol team from the 20 Mechanised Battalion, Serti, operating in Mambilla, Taraba State, while they were in Nyogor forest sharing meats from cows they rustled.

Parading the suspects, the Commanding Officer of the Battalion, Lt.-Col. Sani Adamu  said 30 cows were recovered from the suspects who were arrested by soldiers in Mayo-Ndaga in Sardauna Local Government Area of the state, who were in the troubled are where several persons had been killed, and hundreds of cows stolen earlier in the month.

Leading Senegalese politician Khalifa Sall was handed a five-year jail term for fraud on Friday, a sentence that will rule him out of presidential elections due next February.

Sall, 62, who is mayor of Dakar, had denied the charges against him as politically motivated.

He had been accused of fraudulent use of public funds, for which he was also fined five million CFA francs (7,625 euros).
