A 25-year-old man identified as Dodo Baraje, has been arrested by the Niger State Police Command for reportedly killing his uncle after he advised him against drinking local alcohol.

The suspect who spoke to newsmen over the incident which occurred in Shirumbu village, said he shot his uncle out of annoyance, because he was beaten by him for drinking ‘suck and die’ which the deceased said might ruin his life. Northern City News gathered that the father of four, had lived with his uncle from infancy before killing him. He was trailed and apprehended by a team of policemen attached to the Bangi Police Division of the state, while trying to escape.

An 11-year-old girl and a woman reportedly lost their lives on Saturday after a section of a storeyed building on Abeje Street, Markaz, Agege collapsed.

The deceased residents were identified as Sherifat Olalere and 35-year-old  Toyin Ogundimu while one Mustapha Salaudeen was injured.

A man and his wife have died at a railway station after ‘jumping in front of a train while hugging each other’.

According to Metro UK, horrified witnesses said the two leapt off the platform at Doncaster Railway Station in front of an oncoming train shortly after 8:00pm on Tuesday. It is believed they bought tickets to get past the barriers at the station. British Transport Police confirmed the deaths and said officers were working to identify the victims.

Hotel collapses in India, kills 10


Ten people were killed and two were injured when a four-storey hotel collapsed in a crowded part of the central Indian city of Indore late on Saturday, a local police official said.

Rescue operations were complete and no other casualties were likely, assistant sub-inspector Ramesh Kirade told Reuters by telephone.

Police kill five suspected kidnappers in Taraba


Five suspected kidnappers were on Saturday killed in a gun duel by men of the Taraba state police command.

The suspects, according to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), David Misal, were killed at Garba Chedde by policemen attached to Bali Division after invading the residence of a businessman, Alhaji Yakubu Atiku.
