President Muhammadu Buhari has declared the intention to run for the second term after months of speculation.

The President said this on Monday at a meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership.

There was confusion in the Ojota area of Lagos State after a middle-aged man, identified only as Muyibi, collapsed and died in a commercial cab.

Punch Metro learnt that the victim boarded the cab after withdrawing money from a United Bank for Africa branch in the Ogudu area.

Following the recent protest buy the medical students of the University of Ibadan on the increment of their school and hostel fess, the management of the school has shut down medical school on Sunday and gave the directives to all students to vacate the hostels by noon on the same day.

The directive is contained in a release signed by the institution’s Registrar, Olujinmi Olukoya, and made available to journalists in Ibadan.

Troops of 93 Battalion Takum while conducting EXERCISE AYEM AKPATUMA on Sunday 8 April 2018, following a tip off arrested a criminal informant trying to identify person to be eliminate in a vehicle along road Takum – Chanchangi in Taraba State.

The suspect was heard by a commuter talking to one Mallam Musa Ibrahim to identify the person to be eliminated for reason base known to him. The information was secretly revealed to troops, thereby trailed the vehicle and arrest the informant.

A man dropped his partner on her head during a “Wife Carrying Competition” in the UK. The man slipped while running through a muddy, downhill part of the course in Dorking, Surrey. The woman was seen writhing in agony after being dropped with quite some force.

President Buhari leaves for UK today, a week before Commonwealth meeting


President Muhammadu Buhari will on Monday travel to United Kingdom.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, in a statement on Sunday described the President’s trip as an official visit.

Shehu said the President would be meeting with some persons, including the British Prime Minister, Theresa May, ahead of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meetings.

Kalu, who was reacting to a statement credited to Obasanjo asking President Muhammadu Buhari not to seek a  second term in office, said the former president was incompetent to stop President Buhari from seeking re-election.

Dasuki sues DSS, others for illegal detention


The detained former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd.), has filed a fresh fundamental human rights enforcement suit before the Federal High Court in Abuja demanding his unconditional release from the custody of the Department of State Services.

Dasuki, who has been detained by the DSS since December 29, 2015, also demanded N5bn as “general damages and compensation” for the alleged violation of his rights.

Africa’s richest man Aliko Dangote has faulted Kenya’s leadership for their greed and persistent failure to place matters of national interest first when it comes to development.

Speaking to a renowned Kenyan journalist Jeff Koinange, he shelved his plans to build a mega cement factory in Kenya after being put off by top decision makers in the country whom he described as “more corrupt than Nigerians.”
