90 Nigerian Deportees Arrive Lagos from South Africa


The South African government on Friday deported 90 Nigerians for committing immigration-related offences.
 
DSP Joseph Alabi, the spokesman of the Lagos Airport Police Command confirmed the development to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.

A US Supreme Federal Court in New York has allegedly slammed an injunction against Nigerian artiste, Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu popularly known as Burna Boy.
The injunction prevents him from performing at any event venue or any form of recording any where in USA & Canada for the time being unless he settles with the New York based promotion company Vibesland Entertainment, LLC founded by Promoter/Producer Niyi Fatogun.

Pastor agrees to swear by ‘Ogun’ to prove his innocence


Cleric of the Winners Chapel Church, Pastor Blessed Ighiwi, has said he was prepared to swear by Ogun-Oba to prove his innocence in allegations levelled against him by some elders and traditional ruler of Egba Community, HRH Palmer Omoregbe.
Blessed was the chairman of outlawed Community Development Association (CDA) at Egba village and was arraigned before the Benin monarch for continuing with CDA activities, despite the ban.

Wenger says Arsenal future to be decided end of May


Arsene Wenger says his future as Arsenal manager will likely be decided at the club’s board meeting after the May 27 FA Cup final.
The 67-year-old has just two matches remaining before his contract expires but has yet to announce publicly if he will sign fresh terms to remain at the north London club, where he has been in charge for 20 years.
The Frenchman has been batting away questions over his future for the last few months, but confirmed a meeting held in the days following the final against Chelsea — he will be looking to win a record eighth FA Cup — will be when his fate is discussed.

Mauricio Pochettino insists there is no chance Harry Kane will be allowed to leave Tottenham after his “special” striker’s four-goal blitz in the 6-1 rout of Leicester.
Kane is odds on to finish as the Premier League’s top scorer for the second successive season thanks to his lethal display at the King Power Stadium on Thursday.
The England international now has 26 goals, putting him two ahead of Everton’s Romelu Lukaku with one game remaining in the race for the golden boot.

But with Kroenke showing no interest, the bid has in effect been rejected, though Usmanov is yet to receive written confirmation of that.

13-year old boy arrested with Indian hemp in Osogbo

Police in Osun said they had arrested a 13-year-Old boy (name with held) for being in possession of 29 wraps of weed suspected to be Indian hemp and seven wraps of weeds called ‘Sconge’.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Fimihan Adeoye, made the disclosure at a news conference in Osogbo on Friday.

Police officer from Atakpa division rescued an alleged robber from being set ablaze at Hawkins cemetery Calabar South, Cross River State.

The alleged robber, (pictured sitting on the floor) said to be a load carrier was caught red-handed in the act in the early hours of Thursday, May 18th, along Hawkins while carting away with some goods.

Nigerian, Eneh Wilfried Amobi arrested in India with $1.4m worth of cocaine


A Nigerian, identified as Eneh Wilfried Amobi, has been arrested in India for allegedly possessing cocaine worth $1.4m at a suburban railway station in Mumbai.

The Indian newspaper, The Hindustan Times said a team from the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) caught him after a tip-off by a ticket checker.

According to an official, Wilfried Amobi, 47, was caught with a large quantity of contraband.

“Wilfried said he was as a tourist and as he wanted $200 to return home, he offered to smuggle the drug,” Kumar Sanjay Jha, NCB zonal director, Mumbai and Goa region told HT. The drugs weighing 1.3kg was to be delivered to someone in the city, an official said.

Court dissolves 23-year-old marriage between banker, bricklayer


A 23-year-old marriage between Azeez Adeshina, a bricklayer, and his wife, Oluwatoyin, a banker, was on Friday dissolved on the orders of an Ikorodu Customary Court in Lagos State on the grounds of the wife’s desertion.
The 40-year-old husband had told the court that his wife left their matrimonial home 10 years ago because he caught her red-handed with a man.

UK police threaten to arrest Assange if he leaves Ecuador embassy


British police on Friday threatened to arrest WikiLeaks founder, Julian Assange, if he leaves the Ecuadorean embassy in London after Swedish prosecutors said they would drop a preliminary investigation into an allegation of rape against him.
Mr. Assange, 45, has been holed up in the embassy since 2012 after skipping bail to avoid extradition to Sweden over the allegation of rape, which he denies.

Sweden drops rape probe against WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange


Julian Assange is now a free man following an announcement made today by Sweden's Director of Public Prosecution, Marianne Ny, stating that Sweden has decided to drop its investigation into rape allegations made against the WilkiLeaks founder. 

The accusation against Assange dated from August 2010 when the alleged victim, who says she met him at a WikiLeaks conference in Stockholm a few days earlier, filed a complaint.

Court orders forfeiture of N449m found in Lagos shop to FG


Justice Rilwan Aikawa of the Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the final forfeiture of the sum of N449,597,000 found in an abandoned Bureau de Change shop in Victoria Island, Lagos by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC on April 8th.

Justice Aikawa gave the order for permanent forfeiture after no one came forward to claim ownership of the money.
