India rapist guru: Judge calls Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh ‘wild beast’


A judge who sentenced a controversial Indian guru convicted of rape to 20 years in prison called him a “wild beast” who deserved no leniency.

Judge Jagdeep Singh said in his order that Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh’s assault of his disciples was “custodial rape” and he “deserved maximum punishment”.

Man sentenced to life for raping 60 year old woman on a bridge


A serial sex offender who raped and brutally beat a random 60-year-old woman on a bridge between Manhattan and the Bronx in 2015 was sentenced to up to life in prison on Monday.

Randy Rivera, 29, already a level-three sex offender at the time of the attack,approached the woman at the 207th St. bridge on Dec. 21, 2015, knocked her to the ground and repeatedly punched her before sexually assaulting her.

The Ogun State Police Command has paraded a suspected human trafficker, Paul Aganla, who was arrested on 26th August at Isiu, in Owode -Egba area of the state.

I’m ready to lead troops to where Shekau is hiding, says ex-Boko Haram commander


Abdulkadir Abubakar, a former Boko Haram commander, has said he’s ready to help the military facilitate the arrest of Abubakar Shekau.

He said two factions of the insurgent group are ready to cooperate with the federal government to defeat Shekau.

The Boko Haram commander was arrested by the military in Gujba local government area of Yobe state in June.

An American journalist has been killed while covering clashes between government and rebel forces in restive South Sudan, local officials and the US mission in Juba said on Sunday.

Christopher Allen, a freelance reporter and photographer, was embedded with insurgent troops when fighting broke out in Kaya, near South Sudan’s southern border with Uganda.

Uganda to switch off two million unregistered SIM cards


Over 2 million unregistered Sim cards in Uganda will be switched off on August 30, the Prime Minister, Dr Ruhakana Rugunda, told a press conference. The PM further said that no extension would be granted.

“That is the decision the meeting took; all unverified/unregistered Sim cards will be switched off at midnight of August 30, when the three months extension granted by President Yoweri Museveni expires,” he said.
