Soldiers Storm Ibadan Community, Mark 49 Houses For Demolition


Residents of Mesiogo Estate in the Akobo area of Ibadan, Oyo State, say they are uncertain of their future in the area after their houses were marked for demolition by soldiers from the 2 Division of the Nigerian Army, Adekunle Fajuyi Cantonment.

According to the landlords, the soldiers informed them that the land on which the estate was located belonged to the military barracks. The residents said they were told to pay fine failing which the houses would be demolished.

Barely a day after a Facebook post announcing that he’ll soon join the league of graduates, 24-year-old Auchi Polytechnic student identified on Facebook as Itz Rog Royal died in an auto crash a day after his final exam.

The deceased shared a picture of himself alongside his friends as they sign out of the school after their last papers before becoming a victim of the fatal accident.

Alvaro Morata says he would sign a 10-year contract at Chelsea after clarifying comments that he was unhappy with life in London.

Morata told Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport that he would not be staying in London for long as the city was “too stressful”, ahead of the Blues Champions League clash with Roma.

Egyptian state security prosecutors have extended the pre-trial detention of a young man arrested on charges of “promoting deviance” after fans waved rainbow flags at a rock concert last month.

Lawyer Hoda Nasrallah says on Monday that the hearing for her client, Ahmed Alaa, took place a day earlier. The case involves another young defendant, Sarah Hegazy, whose detention has already been extended until November 13.

A Trump campaign aide has pleaded guilty to lying to FBI investigators probing the campaign’s possible links to Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, according to court documents unsealed Monday.

George Papadopoulos, a foreign policy advisor to the campaign early last year, entered the plea October 5, admitting he sought to hide contacts with a Moscow linked professor offering “dirt” on Donald Trump’s election rival Hillary Clinton.

Police Arrest 200 Cows in Yola


The police in Adamawa have arrested 200 Cows for invading a farmland at Yolde-Pate in Yola South Local Government Area. Adamawa police spokesman, Othman Abubakar, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Yola that the incident occurred on Saturday.

“In collaboration with the district and village heads in the area and timely intervention of police and other vigilante members, the situation is now under control.” Abubakar said.

Another Nigerian Student Allegedly Commits Suicide After Spending 13 Years To Study A Course


It was reported yesterday here that a A 16-year old 100-level student of Microbiology at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Mercy Afolaranmi allegedly committed suicide over poor grades. 

Now, it is been reported that another of university of Uyo, Etini Udoh allegedly committed suicide because one of his lecturers frustrated his graduation for 8 years.

ECOWAS court orders FG to pay N88bn civil war damages


The ECOWAS Court of Justice has awarded N88 billion damages against the Federal Government for its failure to clear landmines and remains of explosives after the 1966-1970 civil war in the South Eastern region. In a consent judgment delivered by Justice Chijioke Nwoke today, the court ordered the Federal Government to commence clearing and evacuation of the aftermath of the civil war within 45 days.

A former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Allison-Madueke, on Monday asked a Federal High Court in Lagos to issue an order, listing her as a party to a N500m fraud charge involving a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Dele Belgore.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had charged Belgore together with a former Minister of National Planning, Prof. Abubakar Suleiman, on a five-count bordering on N500m fraud.
