Reps to begin live telecast of Maina’s probe Thursday

The House of Representatives has included the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris, among the list of persons invited in connection with the investigation into the reinstatement of the former Chairman, Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms, Mr. Abdulrasheed Maina, back to service.

Also added to the list is the Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun.

NCC, CBN Threaten Action Against Non Transparent Sale Of 9mobile

The handling of the sale process of 9mobile by Barclays Africa, the financial advisers, has come attack from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC).

In a joint letter to Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank), which is the facility agent for the 9mobile syndicated loan, Umar Danbatta, the Executive Vice-Chairman of NCC, and Godwin Emefiele, the Governor of CBN, expressed displeasure with the “unwillingness of Barclays Africa” to follow due process in the bid.

Chef drugs ex-minister, Kalu Idika, robs him of N10m

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested Peter Odion, the chef of a former Minister of Finance, Dr Kalu Idika, for his involvement in the robbery of his boss.

Odion lived with the ex-minister at 180A, Moshood Olugbani Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.

He had allegedly put some sedatives into a cup of coffee he served the ex-minister on a Wednesday morning.

Five million pupils get free meal in 19 states, says presidency

The Presidency yesterday disclosed that over five million pupils in 28,249 schools in 19 states are currently being fed under the National Homegrown School Feeding (NHGSF) programme.

The states are Anambra, Enugu, Oyo, Osun, Ogun, Ebonyi, Zamfara, Delta, Abia, Benue, Plateau, Bauchi, Taraba, Kaduna, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Imo, Jigawa and Niger. Kano and Katsina states are expected to be added to the list in the coming weeks.

Four men die after drinking local gin ‘ogogoro’ in Imo State

Four people have reportedly died in Imo state after consuming locally-made alcohol, also known as Ogogoro. The incident occurred at a popular drinking joint at Imerienwe community, owned by one Uwadiegwu Eze, in Ngor-Okpala local government area of the state last week.
