Police on Friday arraigned a nurse, Agulana Ndidi, 33, and Yakubu Lina, 34, in a Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court over an attempt to sell a newborn baby.

The duo are charged with criminal conspiracy and concealment of birth, punishable under sections 59 and 213 of the Penal Code Laws of Kaduna, 2017.

A Nigerian mother who killed her 18-month-old daughter when she suffered an epileptic fit at the wheel has been spared jail. Chidinma Anya, 45, was slammed by Old Bailey judge Rebecca Poulet for driving despite being told not to by a neurologist.

The Judge said mum-of-four Anya had an “intermittent and unreliable” attitude to her medication.

Justice Saliu Saidu sitting at a Federal High Court, Lagos, Friday, ordered the permanent forfeiture of Flat 7B situated at No. 16, Osborne Road, Ikoyi, Lagos, where the sum of $43,449,947, £27,800 and N23, 218,000, totaling N13 billion, was discovered on April 12, 2017, in iron cabinets and “Ghana-must-go” bags, to the Federal Government Nigeria. 

Delivering judgement on the suit, Justice Saidu after dismissing Union Bank Plc's application as the owner of the flat, described the Bank, as a busybody, that has no interest in the property sought to be forfeited.

National Bank of Kenya hacked, millions lost

The National Bank of Kenya on Friday confirmed it was hacked and 29 million shillings (N101.4m) lost in the process.

In a statement seen by Kenyan Pulse, the bank disclosed that the  fraud happened on January 17, 2018.

A 45-year old carpenter, Olumide Akinleye, who allegedly cohabited with and raped his own daughter, is to remain behind bars pending judgment, an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court ordered in Ibadan on Friday.

Magistrate Modina Akanni, who gave the ruling, said Akinleye should be kept in police custody until when hearing would begin.
