Alexis Sanchez to complete Manchester City transfer ‘in the coming days’

Alexis Sanchez to complete Man City transfer 'in the coming days'

Manchester City have won the race to sign Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal, according to reports in Spain.

Gerard Romero, who works for Sport as well as a radio station which covers Barcelona called Moguts pel Barça, claims that the Chile international will join Pep Guardiola’s side ‘in the coming days’.

Romero has a strong track record with City’s transfers since Guardiola arrived at the club having revealed the deals involving Leroy Sane, Gabriel Jesus, Nolito and John Stones long before they were announced.
Earlier on Wednesday, reports in Chile also claimed that City is Sanchez’s preferred destination over Bayern Munich.

Last week, Arsene Wenger reiterated that Arsenal will not entertain offers for Sanchez this summer, despite the 28-year-old only having a year remaining on his current contract.
‘They [Sanchez and Ozil] will stay at the club and hopefully we can extend their contracts,’ the Frenchman told beIN Sports.
‘You cannot weaken the club and weaken the team.
‘You want to strengthen the team. Unless you find a player of the same calibre.’

Despite Wenger’s public insistence that last season’s top goalscorer will not be sold, Arsenal have been linked with a number of forwards already this summer which suggests Sanchez’s future is far from certain.
Wenger refused to rule out the possibility of making a bid for Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez this summer, while the FA Cup winners are reportedly in the running for Monaco’s Kylian Mbappe and Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette.

Sanchez, meanwhile, spoke briefly about his future after Arsenal’s victory over Chelsea in the FA Cup final nearly two weeks ago.
‘I don’t know my friend, finished now, so happy for the win and the FA Cup, happy for the players, now I don’t know,’ he told the BBC.

‘My agent speaking after… I don’t know.
‘Now, it’s the Confederations [Cup], now it’s focusing on the national team.’
After enduring the first trophyless campaign of his managerial career, despite spending in excess of £150 million, Guardiola is expected to oversee a lavish rebuilding job during the close season.

The 46-year-old, who signed Alexis for Barcelona from Udinese back in 2011, has already recruited Bernardo Silva from Monaco for £43 million and City are in negotiations with the French champions over move for their left-back Benjamin Mendy.
City have also agreed a deal for Benfica goalkeeper Ederson, while the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Kyle Walker and Mbappe represent high-profile targets.
