Full-back Ricardo Rodriguez has signed a four-year deal with AC Milan after completing a €17 million move from Wolfsburg, the clubs announced on Thursday.
The 24-year-old becomes the Rossoneri’s third new signing this summer, and third since the end of Silvio Berlusconi’s near 31-year reign as club owner, joining Mateo Musacchio and Franck Kessie at the disposal of coach Vincenzo Montella next season.
The Switzerland international had arrived in Milan for medical exams earlier in the week.
“We need players who will show a certain enthusiasm for this shirt, which is why the first thing we do after the medical is give a tour of the trophy room,” said director Massimiliano Mirabelli.
Capped 45 times by Switzerland, Rodriguez played 24 times in the Bundesliga last season, taking him to a total of 149 outings in Germany’s top flight.
He thanked his former club for an “unforgettable” five seasons.
“We experienced and achieved a lot together,” he told Wolfsburg’s official website. “I have developed as a player and as a person, always feeling very comfortable and having won a lot of friends.
“However, now is the time for me to take the next step in my career. Milan are a top international club and a big new challenge for me.”
