South African defender KO’s opponent with ‘punch tackle’

South African international defender Morgan Gould may have some explaining to do after an incredible ‘punch tackle’ on Wits striker Getaneh Kebede.
The unbelievable incident occurred during the Kaizer Chiefs’ 2-1 win over their rivals, although it was this knockout punch which stole the headlines post-match.
Gould struck his opponent with a left-jab to the jaw, with Kebede instantly sent sprawling to the floor. However, the referee, seemingly oblivious to the forceful nature of the ‘tackle’, only awarded a free-kick.
To make matters worse, the 30-year-old has since taken to Twitter to apologise for the incident, insisting it was simply a ‘freak accident’.
Whether the PSL views it the same way remains to be seen, but Gould is yet to receive a ban of any sort for the incident.
