A Federal High Court in Lagos yesterday rejected an application filed by the former Governorship candidate of Labour Party in Anambra State, Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah, seeking to restrain the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) from arresting him over alleged forgery.
Ubah, the Managing Director of Capital Oil and Gas Limited, had filed the suit seeking to stop his arrest in connection with alleged fraud, forgery, altering of forged documents, conspiracy to obtain money by false pretence and tax evasion.
The act was said to have been committed in a lease agreement between Ubah and a firm, DTV Limited. Ubah, who equally joined the Inspector General of Police and the Attorney General of the Federation as respondents in the suit, had alleged that plans by EFCC to arrest him were part of desperate moves to stop his Anambra State governorship ambition. In the election, Ubah lost to the incumbent Governor, Willie Obiano.
