IGP Abubakar wants suspected rapist DPO flown to Abuja

There are indications that the Adekunle Awe, the Divisional Police Officer who was accused of raping a 31-year-old woman in Lagos may be flown to Abuja today on the orders of the Police Inspector General, Mohammed Abubakar.

Reports say the order was given so as have a more thorough investigation into the matter.
Awe, who was the DPO at the Onikan Police Station was said to have raped the woman, Idowu Akinwunmi who was arrested in the company of five others.

 
Akinwunmi who worked as a food vendor was reported to the police by her boss who accused her of allowing men sleep over at the restaurant.
Reports say the state command has received a signal ordering the Lagos State commissioner of police, Mr Umar Manko to hand over the case file and suspect to police officers in Abuja.
 
Awe was said to have been arrested with two police inspectors and detained at the state command 
headquarters, Ikeja.
