Police declares war on ‘agberos’, arrests 118 in Oshodi

No fewer than 118 suspected hoodlums famously known as Agberos were yesterday, arrested by the state Task Force on Environmental and Special Offences (Enforcement) unit in Oshodi motor parks and its environs.


The arrest was carried out by the state government as part of its efforts to boost security in Lagos state.

Among those arrested and detained were 106 males and 12 females hoodlums.
Vanguard reports that the team security officials, who stormed the area at 1:00am, arrested the hoodlums, who have been terrorizing the popular market and its environs.
It was gathered that the hoodlums had robbed commuters of their valuables at the early hours of yesterday.

After a screening at the task force office in Alausa, Ikeja, 118 suspected hoodlums were found guilty.

Confirming the arrest, the chairman of the Taskforce, Chief Superintendent of Police, Mr. Bayo Sulaiman, said the raid at Oshodi began around 1.am and that the exercise lasted for an hour.

According to him, “We decided to raid Oshodi after a long time due to series of complaint about the upsurge in petty criminal activities in the area
