Cesc Fabregas brushed off the boos from Arsenal fans to help Chelsea beat his old team, with the midfielder further twisting the knife for Gunners fans by admitting he’s desperate for success at Stamford Bridge.
The Spaniard set up Diego Costa once again to seal a 2-0 victory for the Blues, but he reused to acknowledge that the result was made any sweeter by the fact that he was jeered by some Arsenal fans.
‘No. Not at all. I have huge respect for Arsenal. They gave me everything when I was little,’ he said.
‘Without them [Arsenal fans] I know I wouldn’t be here. I wouldn’t have won what I’ve won. I respect the fans I take it in a positive way I know they love me.
‘It’s all because we were together one day. Sometimes for circumstances these things can happen.
‘I’ve always said it, I’m not scared and they will always be in my heart forever but now, this is football, I’m in this fantastic football club.’
Fabregas, who moved to Chelsea from Barcelona after Arsene Wenger turned down a first-refusal option on him, also admitted in his post-match interview that he’s loving life at Stamford Bridge and is desperate for success with the Blues.
‘I’m playing with great players, with a great coach and with great fans and I want to win everything,’ he said.
‘I’m hungry. I really want to do well for this club and I hope I can make it in the future.’
The result saw Chelsea consolidate their lead at the top of the Premier League, with Arsenal dropping down to eighth.
