Unfortunately for him, he'll now have to part ways with a sizeable chunk of his net worth, as a judge in Oklahoma City has just awarded his ex-wife with nearly a $1 billion after their divorce settlement, making her instantly one of the wealthiest women in the United States.
The ruling requires Hamm to pay his ex one-third of the settlement before the end of this year, coming out to a whooping $320 million that she'll receive before the clock strikes 12 on New Year's Eve.
The remainder will be paid to Sue Ann Hamm in $7 Million monthly payments. The amount is so grand, that the judge placed a lien on more than 20 million shares (slightly more than $1 billion) of Hamm's stock in Continental Resources.
