Chelsea overtook Arsenal’s Premier League record of London derby wins last night.
Antonio Conte’s side comfortably beat West Ham 2-1 at the London Stadium on Monday to take their tally of victories against their capital rivals to 118.
It was enough to put Arsenal – with 117 wins – into second place.
Many of those Chelsea wins came over Arsenal themselves. In the last 10 years of Premier League meetings the Blues have won 13, with the Gunners victorious just five times.
Losing the record as the most dominant London side comes at a bad time for Arsenal who are in the midst of a difficult run of form. They’ve lost three of their last four Premier League outings to slip outside the top four and they are virtually certain to be eliminated from the Champions League this evening when they play Bayern Munich (who lead 5-1 from the first leg). In addition there is uncertainty over manager Arsene Wenger and speculation surrounding the future of top scorer Alexis Sanchez.
