Senegal's Mane is the only African in the PFA 'Team Of The Year'

Senegal's Mane is the only African in the PFA 'Team Of The Year'

Senegalese skipper and Liverpool midfielder, Sadio Mane, has been named in the Professional Footballers Association’s (PFA) Premier League (PL) Team of the Year.
The 25-year-old was the only African player to make the list, the recognition also comes despite a premature end to his season.

“Mane’s season was ended prematurely by a knee injury sustained during the 3-1 victory over Everton on April 1, but his impressive performances throughout the majority of 2016-17 have earned recognition from his peers,” his club’s website said.
Before his injury, Mane had scored 13 goals and given five assists in 27 PL appearances during his debut campaign at Mersey side.
He joined the Anfield side from Southampton and has since stamped his authority on Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Algerian international Riyad Mahrez is the reigning PFA Players’ Player of the year after helping Leicester City to win their first PL title last season. He scored 17 goals and gave 11 assists as the team marched on to win the title against odds.
