Hayat Kimya, a leading fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) company, inaugurated its ultra-modern diaper and tissue factory at the Agbara Industrial Layout last week, which had in attendance the Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun.
While officially declaring the event open, Amosun applauded the board and management of Hayat Kimya for placing their trust in Nigeria, insisting that the firm will get quick return on investment.
Amosun also hoped that the Hayat’s multi-million dollar investment in the country would act as a catalyst for other Turkish companies that are looking to access new markets in Nigeria, and especially Ogun State. He also urged firms in Ogun State to assist the government in infrastructural development, especially in the area of road construction.
Speaking, Hayat Global CEO, Avni Kigili, said Hayat Kimya invested $100 million to manufacture Molfix diapers, Papia and Familia tissues at the world-class factory in Agbara. “All of this cutting edge technological manufacturing investment can only run better with the devoted work of the 500 Hayat employees.
“Products from the factory will serve the West and Central African market, and augment the company’s North African factories where necessary, given that the Nigerian plant is built with the same global standards as all other Hayat factories around the world. The manufacturing plant in Agbara would create about 30,000 job opportunities to Nigerians.
“Hayat Kimya has 14 production sites around the world, and the company’s first major investment in sub-Saharan Africa is in Nigeria. The Nigerian diaper and tissue factory here in Agbara is currently ranked as the most modern Hayat plant in the world. Hayat Kimya manufactures high quality consumer goods in detergents, hygiene and tissue categories.”
Speaking further, he stated, “As a foreign investor, Hayat Kimya believes in Nigeria. We are ready to contribute to Nigeria’s growth, by positioning her as a business hub. We will continue to invest at full speed, to offer superior and accessible products here, because we believe Nigeria deserves the best.”
Similarly, the Managing Director, Hayat Kimya, Hakan Misri, noted that “we are here to celebrate the tie between our two great nations – Nigeria and Turkey. Hayat Kimya has been operationally present since 2015 and within a year, we established this factory and subsequently started the production of Made in Nigeria ‘MOLFIX,’ which is a baby diaper brand. Today, Molfix is number two baby diaper in Nigeria. Our plan to invest in Ogun State shows our confidence in the resilience of Nigerian economy. It also shows our commitment to the country.
Success is 10 per cent ability and ninety percent sweat. We are ready to put all our effort to bring innovative products to Nigerian consumers who deserve the best. Hayat Kimya is investing in Nigeria for long term and we are grateful to our partners and the government who share in our vision. Our ambition is also to be the leader in our category and to be the trusted by our stakeholders.”
