International sportsman investigated by police 'for infecting lover with HIV'

An international sportsman is being investigated by police over claims he knowingly infected a former partner with HIV.
Thames Valley Police officers are looking into allegations of grievous bodily harm after his former lover contacted them when the pair broke up.

A spokesman said no one has been arrested in connection with the investigation and that enquiries are ongoing.

The Sun said the unnamed sportsman’s ex had claimed to have learned of his condition after discovering his ‘vitamin pills’ were actually anti-viral tablets.
She added: ‘I went to a clinic next day to get tested and be on the safe side.

‘They gave me the news straight away and I started crying.’
The paper claims the star has been given a formal warning by the force’s Complex Case Unit.
A police spokesman told metro.co.uk: ‘Thames Valley Police is investigating an incident of grievous bodily harm relating to an alleged offence reported to have taken place between December 2013 and June 2014.
‘No one has been arrested in connection with the investigation. Enquiries are ongoing.’
