Alexis Sanchez backs Alex Iwobi to become Arsene Wenger’s key player at Arsenal

Alexis Sanchez has praised Alex Iwobi’s performances and backs the midfielder to become a key player for Arsenal.

The 21-year-old made his first-team debut in 2015 but last season was his first full campaign in the senior squad under Arsene Wenger.

Iwobi scored three goals and registered the same number of assists in 26 Premier League appearances but Sanchez, whose future at Arsenal remains unclear, insists the Nigeria international is destined for greatness.

‘I really like Alex,’ the Chilean told Arsenal’s official website.

‘He’s a player that can play up front, in the centre, he’s good at one on ones.

‘If he has a winning mentality and keeps pushing forward I think he can do very well. I really like him.’
