The 27-year old petitioner, a petrol attendant who resides at No. 144 Olokemeji St., Ado-Ekiti, filed for divorce over alleged beatings, adultery, lack of respect for her, drunkenness and waywardness on the part of Aliu.
The petitioner told the court that although she and the respondent were never legally married, they had been living together as husband and wife over the past six years, with the union blessed with three children.
She, however, alleged that the respondent drove her out of his house five months ago because she often advised him to mend his wayward ways.
The mother of three children said whenever the respondent was drunk and she tried to persuade him to stop taking alcohol, he would beat her mercilessly.
She told the court that the respondent had failed to live up to his parental responsibility, but preferred to spend money on other women.
The petitioner, who further told the court that Aliu `does not respect my family,” prayed for the dissolution of the marriage.
She, however, urged the court to compel the respondent to be paying N5,000 as monthly feeding allowance for each of the three children.
But Aliu, 35, a commercial driver and a resident of Arogun St., Ado-Ekiti, refuted all the allegations.
While he did not oppose the request for dissolution of the marriage, Aliu, told the court he could only afford to pay N2,000 as monthly feeding allowance for each of the three children.
He assured the court that he would be responsible for the education of his children
The court’s President, Mr Joseph Ogunsemi, who dissolved the marriage, awarded the custody of the three children to the petitioner and ordered Aliu to be paying N2,000 as monthly feeding allowance on each of the three children.
He ordered that the payment of the money, which would be effective from November 2017, shall be paid to the court’s registry for onward delivery to the petitioner.
Ogunsemi further granted Aliu unrestricted access to his children without any molestation.
