Nigerian teacher who tried to murder a widow over £31k, jailed for 21 years

A 52-year-old Nigerian Abosede Adeyinka has been sentenced to 21-years in jail for trying to murder a 90-year-old widow by bludgeoning her over the head and stabbing her in the neck. Abosede carried out the act in an attempt to steal the woman's £31,000 savings on the evening of April 27, 2017, in the U.K.

According to reports, Abosede, busted into Pam Batten's home, knocked her to the ground before striking her twice over the head. Abosed did mot stop there as she threw a knife at Mrs Batten when she pleaded for mercy, leaving it embedded in the pensioner's neck. .

Adeyinka, who is a mother of three, had taken care of  Mrs Batten's late-husband, Ernest, in the last six months of his life, so knew the couple had some money in their home.

Although Abosede covered her face with a red lace scarf during the shocking attack, Mrs Batten however recognised her immediately .

Mrs Batten said the horrifying attack has shattered her confidence, making her afraid to be home alone at night or speak to strangers, and terrified she will be attacked again. .

Adeyinka, a charity worker and Sunday school teacher, burst into tears and wailed loudly as Judge Peter Clarke QC jailed her for 21 years at Blackfriars crown court this morning.
