Herdsmen arrested for attempted murder, unlawful possession of firearms in Ogun


Policemen in Ogun State have arrested three herdsmen for unlawful possession of arms and attempted murder.

According to The Tribune, a statement from the Police Command Public Relations Unit identified the three herdsmen as Mohammed Bello, Muhammed Momoh, and Yisau Umoru.


They were arrested following information received that they had attacked one Ige Orisade, on his farm at Imedu in Oja Odan area of the state.

The victim was reported to have been severally wounded by the suspects when he challenged them on why they brought their cattle’s on his farm for grazing, thereby destroying his farm crops.

The suspects were said to have macheted him and escaped into a bush while the matter was reported to the Area Commander, Ilaro,  ACP Titus Musa, who directed his men to the scene of the incident.

The police team and the local vigilante men in the course of combing the farm area were able to arrest the suspects.

Items recovered from them include one AK 47 rifle with serial number 513, 49 0.8mm life ammunition, 26 live cartridges and two sharp cutlasses.
