Jamila Malafa has been promoted to the rank of Commodore by the Nigerian Navy, equivalent to the Army rank Brigadier-General.
She's the first female General from Northern Nigeria. Malafa, who joined the Navy in 1988, was born in Gombi LGA, Adamawa State, 1965.
