Driver kills octogenarian, dumps body in pit toilet

The Edo State Police Command has arrested one Clement Ekuase for the alleged murder of an 87-year-old man in the Ovia North-East Local Government Area of the state.
The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Johnson Kokumo, who confirmed the arrest on Tuesday, added that the suspect dumped the remains of his victim in a pit toilet.
It was also learnt that two other suspects were arrested in connection with the killing.
It was gathered that Ekuase was employed as a driver to the deceased, identified as one Pa Nosakhare Omo-Osagie.
He was said to have clubbed the aged man with a pestle and dispossessed him of the vehicle, a Mercedes-Benz wagon which was given to him (deceased) by his children.
The suspect was said to have later sold the vehicle to a herbalist in Ovbiogie village and told the late man’s children that their father had been kidnapped.
It was learnt that Samson had informed the victim’s children, based abroad, that the kidnappers demanded a ransom of N2m.
The children of the deceased were said to have paid the ransom, which the suspect collected, with a promise that their father would be released soon.
But Samson was said to have run out of luck when some relatives of the late man visited his residence and discovered his decomposing body inside the pit toilet.
It was learnt that the suspect was later arrested by policemen from the Ekiadolor division while trying to collect a  balance of N500,000 from the buyer of the car before Christmas.
However, the police commissioner stated that the incident was being treated as a case of murder.
He also said that the suspect had been charged to court.
