FAAN Shuts Abuja Runway As Plane Loses Gear

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria on Thursday shut down the runway of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, after an aircraft lost its landing gear while touching down at the facility.

It was learnt that the private jet, operated by Nest Oil, skidded off the runway as soon as it touched down on the runway, a development which according to sources as well as passengers at the airport, led to a shutdown of the runway for hours.

FAAN, however, in a statement issued by its General Manager, Corporate Affairs, Henrietta Yakubu, stated that the runway was closed for 30 minutes.
