Obasanjo has no moral justification to tell Buhari not to seek re-election – Prof Sagay

The Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption, PACAC, Prof Itse Sagay, has on Wednesday reacted to the special letter written by the former President Olusegun Obasanjo to President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday, noting that Obasanjo has no moral justification to tell Buhari not to seek re-election coming 2019.

Obasanjo who attributed poor economic plan, poverty, nepotism, gross dereliction of duty, condonation of misdeed and insecurity as major cause of President Buhari’s old age, advised him not to take part in the 2019 presidential election, saying that the situation that made Nigerians to vote massively to get his brother ‘Jonathan’ off the horse is playing itself out again.

In view of the above statements from Ex-president Obasanjo, Prof. Sagay said,  “I think Obasanjo should try and respect other people. He has achieved a lot. He is a great man and I respect him. But he should learn to respect other people and think of them as being, at least, as good as himself.

“I think it is insulting for a man who wanted third term to tell somebody else not to want second term. It is most inappropriate, and for a former head of state to say so is most improper”, he said.
