Wike sets aside N50m as education grant for little girl whose parents were killed in the New Year day Omoku attack

Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike, yesterday announced that the state government has set aside N50 million for the education of a one-year-old girl, Purity, pictured above with him, whose parents were killed in the Omoku attack on January 1st this year.

Recall that on New Year day, cult members led by their leader, Don Wanny who was recently killed, carried out a massive attack in Omoku community and its environs, killing more than 20 persons.

At a meeting with residents of the community yesterday January 16th, Governor Wike said the state government has taken the responsibility to see the little girl through school. He also announced that the government will pay the hospital bills of all the people injured during the attack.

“I am here today to further express my condolences to the families that lost loved ones and also express my sympathy to the injured. Like I said before, the Rivers State Government will foot the hospital bills of the injured and support support the families of the deceased ” he said

On the 32 cultists his adinistration last week placed a N640m bounty on, Governor Wike alleged that Rivers APC leaders have approached the cultists, asking them to join their political platform ahead of the electioneering period. He stated that his administration will not be deterred by the political antics of Rivers APC, saying that the deadly cultists will be traced and brought to justice.

“Nobody should play politics with security of lives. Since we declared these cultists wanted, they have approached them to work with them. Whether or not they work with APC, they will meet their Waterloo”, he said.
