According to the Associated Press, on Thursday afternoon, officers were responding to a disturbance call at Craig's home when they were informed that a young boy had been rushed to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest. Officials identified the child to be Kaden Green, the son of 24-year-old Cameron Castillo.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Reportedly, Green had been wounded by Craig and died later due to the harsh impact of the injury.
Prior to the incident, it is believed that Castillo and his girlfriend, Craig, were actually in a heated dispute, which prompted him to gather his three children and exit the home. Shortly after getting settled into his vehicle, Castillo proceeded to drive away. However, not making too far down the street, that's when Craig opened fire into the moving vehicle, Greenville police reports.
Green, who was one of the three fellow passengers, was unfortunately struck by one of the bullets. A frightened driver, Castillo frantically came to a stop, as Craig and a local witness immediately approached the scene. Once noticing that Green had been hit, the bystander took the youngster to the ER. Craig and Castillo were absent when authorities arrived.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Green's two siblings, who were also involved, are now placed under the state’s custody.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Both Craig and Castillo have since been arrested. Friday morning, when spotted by police Craig and Castillo fled the parking lot of Walgreens, leading them on a high-speed chase. They were later caught 45 miles west of Greenville in Frisco. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Craig is currently being held on a capital murder charge, among facing driving without a license, driving with no seatbelt, and drug paraphernalia charges. Castillo, on the other hand, was apprehended for parole violation.
