The Police at the Ikoyi Division, Lagos, South West Nigeria have arrested a driver, Emmanuel Agene, 27, for allegedly stealing his employer’s Ford Edge SUV with registration number LSR 921 AW valued at N6.5m one week after he was employed.
He allegedly drove the SUV to Abuja, Nigeria to look for a buyer before he was arrested.
The incident occurred on 10 November, 2017 at 1, MacGregor Road, Ikoyi, Lagos when the suspect was sent on an errand to Jibowu area of Lagos by his employer, Modupe Adesunloye.

The driver, instead drove his employer’s vehicle straight to Abuja to look for a buyer for it.
Nemesis, however, caught up with the driver when he was arrested by the Police in Abuja for selling the vehicle to a buyer with fake documents.
During interrogation by the police, the suspect from Otukpo, Benue State, allegedly confessed that he stole the vehicle from his employer to sell and use the proceeds to start his life, adding that he deliberately secured the driving job primarily for him to steal.
Following his alleged confession, the Police in Abuja sent a signal to the Police in Lagos about the incident and the Divisional Police Officer, DPO in charge of Ikoyi Division, Lagos SP Tijani Mustapha dispatched a team led by Ijatuyi Tope to Abuja to bring the suspect and the stolen SUV back to Lagos.
The suspect was arraigned before an Igbosere Magistrate Court, Lagos on 3-count charge of felony to wit stealing.
Police counsel, Tubi Olajide told the court in charge No N/9/2018 that the offences the accused committed were punishable under Sections 411, 287 and 361 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the alleged crime in the open court.
Magistrate O.M Ajayi granted him bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till 5th March, 2018 for mention.
Ajayi ordered that the defendant be kept at the Ikoyi Prison, Lagos till he fulfilled the bail condition.
