Gunmen kidnap Headmistress in Akwa Ibom


Unknown gunmen have reportedly kidnapped the Headmistress of Ikot Udobia Primary School in Ukanafun Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

Chairman of Ukanafun Local Government, Mr Uko Idiong broke the news to Vanguard this morning during security meeting with the Commissioner of Police, Mr Adeyemi Ogujemilusi, Chairmen of the 31 Local Government Areas of the State and their Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) at the State Police Force Headquarters, Ikot Akpan Abia.



Though the identity of the Headmistress was not known at press time, it was gathered, the kidnap incident took place at about 9 AM.

The Chairman however, called on the CP for reinforcement of security in the area particularly, Afaha Clan to curb the influx of criminal elements from neighbouring Abia and Rivers States.

Meanwhile, the security meeting with the CP, Chairmen and DPO’s is ongoing. Top on the agenda is collaboration between the Chairmen and Akwa Ibom State Police Command towards eradicating cultism, murder, kidnapping and other prevalent violent crimes in the state.

It would be recalled that, Ukanafun has experienced violent crimes in recent times due to the prevalence of cultism in the area.
