Burglar Found Sleeping Behind A Bar After Breaking Into A Nightclub

A bungling burglar was found fast asleep behind the bar of the nightclub he had broken in to. Drunk Trevor Palmer and three others were captured on CCTV entering the Basement Club, in Sunderland, in the early hours of the morning after the premises had closed for the night.

The men ransacked the venue and smashed their way into a safe to steal the contents.

Three of the four burglars then made their escape.

But dozy Palmer decided to bed down for the night behind the bar, Newcastle Crown Court was told.

Staff discovered the club had been broken into the next morning and soon discovered the snoozing 25-year-old, Chronicle Live reported.

Now, Palmer, from Sunderland, has been sentenced to 18 months in prison after he admitted two counts of burglary relating to the Basement Club and a separate incident where he broke into McDonald’s and stole straws, cookies and a high-visibility jacket.
