All players for the Super Falcons game against France arrive camp (pictures)


All invited players for the Super Falcons game against France have arrived camp in Le Mans and due to have their first training session at 10am today.

The game against France will be at the MM Arena in Le Mans tomorrow, Friday, April 6th, 2018 @ 8pm.


Coach Thomas Dennerby initially released a list of 23 players for the match, but Asisat Oshoala, Onome Ebi, Alaba Jonathan, Chinwendu Ihezui and Uchechi Sunday had to pull out of the game due to problems with their visas or work permits. Rashidat Ajibade also had to pull out of the game because she was unwell.

Sophia Omotola Omidiji was given a late invitation to the team to replace the players that had are unavoidably absent. Sophia Omotola Omidiji (born June 18, 1997) is a Nigerian-American football player. She currently plays for Dutch Division I Club S.B.V. Excelsior after completing a switch from KAA Gent in Belgium in June 2017.

Sophia was raised in Las Vegas, Nevada, to a Nigerian father and an American mother. She began playing football at the age of five. Omidiji played high school football for Sierra Vista High School where she is the all-time leading goal scorer with 98 goals in four seasons including scoring 38 goals in her final season.

The Super Falcons team shared news of the progress on its Twitter page:
”With all invited players in camp, we will have two training sessions on Thursday before Friday’s friendly with France WNT in Le Mans. Our first training will come up by 10am at the Le Clos Fleuri ground and the second session will hold at MmArena by 6pm.
With the arrival of Holland-based Sophia Omidiji @vegas2nl and Cyprus-based Ngozi Ebere, we now have a full house of 18 players in camp at the Mecure Hotel ahead of Friday’s friendly against France WNT”.
