How herders, farmers clashes can be resolved – Dons

Some lecturers of the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta, FUNAAB, and Bayero University Kano, BUK, have proposed the establishment of integrated crops-livestock settlements to address the protracted farmers-herdsmen clashes.

The dons made the proposal at a validation workshop on controlled grazing, which was organised by Synergos Nigeria on Monday in Abuja.

Kenya’s Football Federation confirmed that Paul Put has resigned as coach of the Harambee Stars.

The 61-year-old Belgian stepped down for “personal reasons.”

Kenya’s Federation said in a statement that Paul Put’s resignation is “a setback to the country’s ongoing 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualification campaign.”

Borno farmers ready for rice Pyramid

Farmers in Borno has  announced plans to unveil rice pyramid sequel to the bumper harvest recorded this cropping season.

They made the announcement on Monday in Maiduguri.

Lagos abolishes cash payment in revenue collection

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, on Monday paid his Land Use Charge, with an announcement that the State Government will no longer accept cash payment in revenue collection effective from March 1, 2018.

Speaking shortly after paying at Opebi branch of Guaranty Trust Bank in the presence of top management staff of the bank, Governor Ambode said the measure was aimed at improving on service delivery to residents of the State and as well block all revenue leakages.

A septuagenarian, Emmanuel Ajasa, was on Monday brought before an Ebute Meta Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for the murder of his nephew, whom he allegedly stabbed to death.

Ajasa, 73, is to remain behind bars, pending receipt of legal advice from the office of the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions, the Magistrate, Mrs O.O.A. Fowowe-Erusiafe, ruled.

Oxfam says Haiti director admitted using prostitutes

Oxfam’s country director in Haiti admitted to using prostitutes at his residence during a relief mission before resigning in 2011, according to an internal investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct released by the charity on Monday. 

It is the first time Oxfam has directly addressed accusations against Roland Hauwermeiren, who has denied paying for sex with prostitutes or abusing minors. He ran the Oxfam operation in Haiti after an earthquake in 2010 and resigned in 2011.
