Sanchez 'would prefer Arsenal move over Liverpool'

Chile star Alexis Sanchez wants to stay at Barcelona next season – but would allegedly prefer to join Arsenal over Liverpool if he is forced to move this summer.
According to Spanish newspaper Sport, the 25-year-old is ‘happy’ in Spain and wants to spend at least one more season at Barcelona.

Joseph Yobo Retires From International Football

Joseph Yobo has called time on his international career after becoming the first Nigerian to reach 100 caps. The defender marked his final game with a stirring performance in defence, blotted only by a late own goal in a 2-0 loss to France in the World Cup round of 16 fixture.
He told KickOffNigeria.com after the game that it is over. "This is it. I've had some great years playing for Nigeria and it has been a wonderful experience, but it's time to face my family now and concentrate on my club career."

Davido Wins Best African Act at 2014 BET Awards


Davido has won the 2014 BET Award for Best African Act, which was revealed at a pre-event taping in Los Angeles ahead of the main award ceremony on Sunday night.

OBO shared his victory with fans saying, ” Thanks to all my fans!! WE WON @BETAwards BEST AFRICAN ACT 2014!! so happy!! Time to party!”

BBC Sport understands the players believe they are each $15,000 (£8,800) short of what they were expecting for reaching the last 16 in Brazil.
They refused to train in Campinas on Thursday and officials later confirmed the session had been cancelled.

According to Globo, the youngster, named Yago Leal, met the Portugal star after climbing the hotel in Brasilia where Portugal stayed for their clash with Ghana.

A housewife,Temitope Ajayi, 28, has been arraigned before a Magistrate court sitting in Isabo, Abeokuta, today docked for allegedly stabbing and pouring urine on her husband’s female friend.
The accused was reported to have stabbed one Ganiyat Yusuf on the head for cooking for her husband while she was away.

A six-year-old boy, Emmanuel Emeka, who was rescued from a suspected kidnapper on Wednesday in the Ikorodu area of Lagos, has recounted how he was lured, seized and tied up by his abductor.

Emmanuel said the suspect, identified as Mama Ifunaya, who was a neighbour, lured him into her room, strangled him, covered his mouth with clothes before tying him up with rope to prevent him from screaming.

15 men gang rape 16-yr-old girl in Rivers


POLICE have arrested members of a 15-man gang that allegedly raped a 16-year-old girl in Gbuga area of Ogbunabali, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The state Police Commissioner, Mr Tunde Ogunsakin, told newsmen, yesterday, at the Police headquarters in Port Harcourt that the girl allegedly attended a party organised in the area, adding that she took a glass of strong drink offered her by one of the rapists which made her pass out before she was allegedly raped by 15 men.

NDLEA Arrests 279 Drug Suspects

At least 279 drug suspects have been arrested by National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, in Kano, northwest Nigeria, in the last six months.
Briefing newsmen during the United Nations Day Against Drug Abuse, NDLEA Commander in Kano, Garba Ahmadu said out of the figure, 108 have already been convicted, adding that 2298.866kgs of illicit drugs were also seized from suspects.

Stephen Keshi confirms Babatunde is Out due to Injury

Stephen Keshi, head coach of the Nigerian football team – Super Eagles, has confirmed in a post match interview that Michael Babatunde will likely not participate in the remaining matches at the ongoing FIFA World Cup .
Keshi said the midfielder will be undergoing surgery and may not be feature in the rest of Nigeria’s 2014 World Cup matches. Nigeria will meet France in the next match.
Babatunde sustained an injury on his hand after blocking a shot by Ogenyi Onazi which was goal bound, and he twisted his arm.
“It is sad that we may not see him play again in the World Cup. He is going for surgery. It is bad.” said Keshi.

Ritualists’ Den Discovered In Lagos

A ritualists’ den has been discovered in Majidun area of Ikorodu, Lagos State, southwest Nigeria.The den, where kidnapped children and adults were allegedly kept as hostages was found beside a church, Holy Family Church, situated in the remote area of the town.

A member of the church who spoke with our correspondents said that the discovery was made Wednesday morning when a lady was caught with two children kept inside a Ghana-must-go sack by residents of the area. The children, four years old were found alive and tied with a rope.
Before the lady was handed over to the police, she allegedly confessed to the residents that her blood was being used by the owner of the church for ritual and was asked to bring the two children for replacement.
