If you are a subscriber to DSTV you will have heard of the very popular Yoruba magazine programme, ‘AGOGO AYO’ being shown on that cable station. The programme is the flagship show of Africa Magic Yoruba Channel 157 and airs in all West African countries and beyond as from 10:00am daily. It covers topical issues and irresistible edutainment and is the voice to the voiceless, combing the grassroots to bring you extraordinary stories from ordinary people.
The show hinges on wholesome socio-cultural edu-tainment; human and societal development that will enrich the spirit, soul and body. It passionately advocates for language and cultural preservation and promotion and is currently the most popular show on Africa Magic Yoruba and as well as one of the most popular shows on the Africa Magic Bouquet. With about four awards to its credit, Agogo Ayo waxes stronger daily…
Agogo Ayo was conceptualised and produced by Femi Oshin (who also doubles as a presenter) in 2010. It hit the airwaves for the first time on November 5, 2010.
Motto: “You can’t conquer a man’s culture except you first conquer his language. When language and culture are lost, life is meaningless”. A large part of the vision of the show was achieved last year when a man wrote an email that he chose to watch Agogo Ayo over the funeral ceremony of Late Nelson Mandela! hmm… that is really saying a lot and meant so much to the producers of the show. Continue to tune in to watch the programme as a lot of valuable things are set to be released this year.
