68-year-old man arrested for killing and cooking his wife

Police discovered a female cut up body cooking in several pans on the stove, according to police reports.

Police have arrested a man they believe is responsible for the killing and cooking of the woman.

The 68-year-old man, pleaded not guilty on Wednesday, to the killing of his wife after police found her severed head in a freezer and her body parts cooking on the stove at his home in Oceanside, California.

Frederick Hengl looked frail as he entered his not guilty plea and his lawyer has requested medical attention.
Police said that they responded to complaints from neighbors about a foul odor coming from the couple's two-bedroom apartment one morning.

The first officer who entered the house, peeked through the window and saw three pans of cooking meat on the stove that turned out to be the victim, 73-year-old Anna Faris.

Faris is believed to have been killed in November. Authorities have not yet determined how she died.

There were numerous freshly cut bone pieces found around the house, Deputy District Attorney Katherine Flaherty, said. A meat grinder, a saw, a boning knife and cutter along with other materials were also found in the house.

Flaherty said there was no evidence of cannibalism. Neighbor Erick Chavez of San Diego, said that the stench of the house became unbearable after someone placed a fan in one of the windows of the house. The smell had lingered for more than a week.

Hengl remained jailed on $5 million bail.
