Suspected rapist DPO weeps in cell, blames the devil

 
Adekunle Awe, the divisional police officer accused of raping a 31-year-old food seller in Lagos has been arrested and detained.
Awe, who was the DPO of Onikan police station who was said to have raped the woman and extorted N30,000 from her reportedly burst into tears in his cell blaming the devil for his woes.

He said the devil sent the woman and others to put him in trouble. He prayed that God should intervene in his case and protect his job. He was detained alongside two police inspectors.
The victim was arrested and taken to the police station after her boss reported that she brought in a strange man to sleep over in the restaurant. She and five other people were arrested.
Meanwhile, the Inspector General of Police, Mr Mohammed Abubakar has declared his interest in the case. The Lagos State government led by Governor Babatunde Fashola (SAN) is also interested in the matter.
