Wedding cancelled after bride is raped and infected with HIV 3 days before wedding

 

 A wedding was called off after a bride to be was raped and infected with HIV.

The woman, who worked as a maid in Zimbabwe, was allegedly raped three days before her wedding.

The 24-year-old maid was raped and infected with HIV by the brother of her employer.

The man, Christopher Kufazwineyi, 44, of the Beitbridge district, appeared before Judge Joseph Maveza. He is facing rape charges.

Prosecutors Johannes Tlou said that Kufazwineyi went to the home of his brother and found the maid alone in the kitchen.

He then allegedly took her from the kitchen to the bedroom and forced himself onto her.

However, in court, Kufazwineyi pleaded not guilty to the charges and denied raping the woman, claiming they were lovers.

Kufazwineyi claimed that the woman invited him to the house and he was surprised when she complained to the police that he had raped her.

Kufazwineyi also said that the woman knew that he was HIV positive.

The prosecutor told the court that their was no evidence to suggest that the two were lovers. There were no phone records of the two talking to each other prior to the incident.
