David Luiz is set to become the most expensive defender in the world with PSG ready to grab him from Chelsea in a £50million deal.
Luiz, who has been linked with Barcelona and Bayern Munich, has been widely tipped to quit Stamford Bridge this summer.
And PSG look to have won the race after opening talks with the Blues on Thursday afternoon, quickly thrashing out a deal for the Brazil international.
The Daily Mail reports that final details are yet to be sorted out, but PSG are expected to make a request imminently for Luiz to be allowed to leave a pre-World Cup training camp in order to travel to Paris for a medical.
Rio Ferdinand’s £30million switch to Manchester United was the previous English record for a defender transfer, but this will be even higher, with PSG happy to go to £50million to secure their man.
Jose Mourinho is happy to let Luiz go, with the club confident of being able to find a better value replacement elsewhere.
