Women opt for surgery to get the perfect engagement ring selfie

 

You know how there’s at least one ‘engagement ring selfie’ on Instagram at the moment? And you know it’s making you die inside?

Well now there’s a growing trend in the US to have plastic surgery – ACTUAL plastic surgery – to make hands prettier before the all-important selfie. Right.

The procedure involves injections of the filler Juvederm, which is also used on the face, to smooth out wrinkles and give skin an overall younger-looking appearance.

Think of it a bit like Botox for your hands – pretty unnecessary, right?

The procedure takes 5-10 minutes and costs about £800 – just another huge expense on top of all the wedding bills – and, needless to say, men find it a bit ridiculous.

One woman told US news site Pix 11: ‘I never liked how my hands looked, I always thought my hands were a little boyish growing up so I figured why not. Engagement pictures are just around the corner and there’s no better time.’

She admitted that her fiancé described her decision as ‘hilarious’.

We’re seriously hoping this doesn’t catch on this side of the Atlantic…
