Real Madrid plot Sterling swoop

Liverpool could face a battle to keep hold of Raheem Sterling with Real Madrid reportedly eyeing a move for the youngster.

The Reds have yet to tie Sterling down to a long-term contract to reward his progress over the past couple of years and according to the Daily Mirror, Real Madrid are ready to take full advantage.

The England international was said to be set for a new deal earlier this year, but a contract offer has yet to materialise, meaning Sterling is still on just £30,000-a-week despite becoming an Anfield regular.

The 19-year-old has already hit three goals in seven Reds appearances this term, following on from his 10-goal haul last campaign.

And his increasing levels of consistency have attracted the attention of Carlo Ancelotti at the Bernabeu .
