Chile stars annoyed with Alexis Sanchez in dressing room after Argentina defeat

Chile stars annoyed with Alexis Sanchez in dressing room after Argentina defeat

Alexis Sanchez annoyed his Chile team-mates with his reaction after the 1-0 defeat to Argentina on Thursday evening, according to reports.

Lionel Messi’s first-half penalty secured victory for Argentina in the World Cup qualifier, while the Arsenal forward went close to scoring an equaliser after hitting the bar with a free-kick.

At the final whistle, a frustrated Sanchez walked straight down the tunnel without acknowledging Chile’s travelling fans.
According to EMOL, the Chile squad were annoyed with the 28-year-old’s conduct as they had urged him to walk over to the supporters instead of heading directly for the dressing room.

A source in Chile’s national team said: ‘[We] made him see that they understood his anger, but that people deserved at least a farewell as a thank you for their support.
‘There were no confrontations or anything, but a demonstration that fans are not to blame for the defeat.’

Sanchez has reportedly caused friction in Arsenal’s dressing room with similar reactions to poor results and performances in recent weeks.
In January, Sanchez threw a tantrum on the bench after being substituted late on in the 4-0 victory over Swansea City.
The Chilean was also involved in a confrontation with team-mates after storming out of a training session earlier this month.
