Mesut Ozil has hit back at claims Arsene Wenger is ready to sell him this summer, insisting he is ‘very comfortable’ at Arsenal.
The Germany international will have only one year remaining on his contract come the end of the season and has been involved in a stand-off with the club.
Hoping to secure a bumper pay-rise along with his team-mate Alexis Sanchez, Ozil is yet to agree terms on a new deal and has been tipped to leave the Gunners in recent weeks.
Reports say Arsenal are now willing to listen to offers for Ozil and Sanchez and hope to receive around £75million in transfer fees for the duo.
It has also been suggested that Wenger has lost patience with Ozil, 28, who is currently struggling with a hamstring problem.
However, the Arsenal playmaker responded emphatically when it was put to him that Wenger was ready to sanction his exit.
‘And you think Wenger tells the journalist before he tells me? Then I know him differently,’ Ozil told German outlet Welt.
‘I have a contract until 2018 in London and I feel very comfortable there. We’ll talk soon and then make a decision.’
Ozil, who has made over 100 league appearances for the Gunners since signing from Real Madrid in 2013, also reiterated his desire to win the Champions League.
‘Why not? Of course, we just have a difficult time and are not satisfied with sixth-place,’ he added.
‘I am convinced, however, that we will catch up again soon. Let’s see what the future holds.’
