A mother in her thirties who was walking along seafront was forced into the back of a car along with her toddler and raped.
This happened on Friday, March 3, between 11.30am and 12.30pm when the mother and the little one were taking a walk along the seafront in in Redcar, North Yorkshire.
It was reported that a car slowed down and two men got out, bundled them in and drove off.
The vehicle stopped on a lane close to a dual carriageway, where the woman was raped.
The woman and the toddler who were visibly traumatized were dumped between 5.30pm and 6.30pm on Kirkleatham Lane, between the turn off for Kirkleatham Museum and the bus stop towards Redcar, the report has said.
Detectives are investigating the incident and have encouraged the locals to be more vigilant.
Detective Chief Inspector Matt Murphy-King said: “This has been a very traumatic ordeal for the victim and her child. Thankfully, incidents of this nature are rare and this is an isolated incident.
“There are a team of detectives working on this investigation and we have increased patrols in the local area. Although we are investigating that the attackers may have known the victim, as a precaution, I would encourage anyone in the local area to be extra vigilant.”
