Alexis Sanchez was dropped from Arsenal‘s starting XI which lost 3-1 to Liverpool following a series of heated arguments with Arsene Wenger, according to reports.
Wenger received widespread criticism in the aftermath of the Gunners’ defeat at Anfield, with Sanchez starting the match on the bench.
Danny Welbeck and Alex Iwobi started ahead of Sanchez and Wenger insisted after the game that the decision was made for tactical reasons.
However, the Daily Mirror suggest the forward’s poor attitude and work-rate in training following Arsenal’s 5-1 thumping at Bayern Munich was the real reason for him being dropped.
It’s claimed Wenger believed starting Sanchez would have had a negative effect on the rest of the side – it’s believed the Chilean turned on his own team-mates after the final whistle at the Allianz Arena.
Reports suggest the 28-year-old is seeking a move away from the Emirates in the summer transfer window, with Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain circling.
Sanchez is still yet to agree to a new deal in north London as his contract negotiations drag on.
